"You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." (2 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV)
What Do We Do for Discipleship?
Our Men's & Women's Discipleship is an intentional and simple way that people are helping people to follow Jesus. It is our aim to be a church full of people who give of themselves to help others follow Jesus. It’s as simple as getting together with another person regularly to read the Bible and learn to know, love, and worship Jesus more. In this, we lean on the truth that as believers in Jesus, when we get together in the power of the Spirit and share in the Word, Jesus reveals himself; and as we draw near to God, He will draw near to us (James 4:8).
Why should you do Discipleship?
Jesus has called every one of his followers to go on his behalf and make disciples (Matt 28:18-20). Jesus wants every one of his disciples to grow and to become a disciple-making disciple. He has given us his Word, his Gospel, and his Holy Spirit to accomplish his mission on earth (Rom 1:16, 2 Tim 3:15-17, Acts 1:8). Jesus’ plan for disciple-making is that one disciple leads one disciple, who leads one disciple (see a four generational example in 2 Tim 2:1-2), so that a church would “walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Col 1:9-10). This ultimately rests in us imitating Jesus and teaching others to do the same (1 Cor 11:1, Phil 3:17). We believe One To One Discipleship will help us be a church of Jesus’ disciples who make disciples.
What does it look like?
We will conect you with a person who has been led through the process themselves. You commit to meet together for 6 months, once every 1 to 2 weeks for about an hour. Together, you will prayerfuly walk through a book of the Bible, asking for the Holy Spirit to teach you from God's Word and lead you to a worshipful response to Jesus and his Gospel.
